Wine Decadence works closely with the team at Foley Family Wines to select the best, most unique and amazing wines possible. We scour the extensive list of wines available from more that 70 wineries around the world to bring our customers exceptional wines at exceptional value. Foley Family Wines produces high quality wines that exceed expectations at every price point. At Wine Decadence, out goal is to carry wines that excite our customers and are harder to find. While occasionally, one may see a wine that we carry at a local retailer, at Wine Decadence, we typically avoid the larger production wines that are heavily distributed to the masses at retailers across the country. Our wines fall into the following categories:

Exclusive

Wine Decadence Exclusive wines are wines that we worked with the winemakers and team at Foley Family Wines to leverage a Foley Family Wines Brand, while developing wines specific to our customers’ tastes. The wines are developed by Foley Family Winemakers using grapes hand selected from select Foley Family Wineries to create the flavor profiles specific for our customers’ palates. These wines are only available through Wine Decadence.

Allocated

An allocated wine is a wine that is created by Foley Family Winemakers as part of their regular annual production. A combination of confidence in the future of Wine Decadence and the enthusiasm for these wines allowed Wine Decadence to obtain a commitment that these wines can be committed to only Wine Decadence. Once a wine isallocated, no one else may purchase these wines. This could be a specific vintage or the entire varietal from that winery. When first allocated, the wine may be seen for a short time in select locations, but they will not be able to be restocked by anyone except Wine Decadence. Sometimes, these will be limited time offerings.

A Direct to Consumer wine is a wine that is created by Foley Family winemakers with the intent to only sell at the winery’s tasting room or through the Foley Food and Wine Society Club Membership. Because of the confidence in the future of Wine Decadence, we are allowed access to some these wines that our customers have specifically requested. These are intentionally small production wines and we are honored to have access to these.

Poster’s Block- we get it. Keeping up with social media has its highs and its lows. Some days you’ll feel like you’ve achieved it all and you know your audience like your best friend…other days you’ll wonder who your audience really is.  What to do? Be true to you! You don’t always need to be talking about wine… GASP! It’s true! Post about your life or your other interests. You can bring new people and customers to you that way.

Post Ideas That Are Not About Wine:

  1. Your Pet
  2. Decorating
  3. Outdoors
  4. Vacations
  5. Adventures
  6. Sports
  7. Hobbies (sewing, painting, chess…etc.)
  8. Aspirations

It’s important to do this for two main reasons. One: you customers won’t get tired of seeing wine selling photos after wine selling photos. Two: you won’t get tired of social media. Remember to use relevant hashtags and to get creative.  You’ve got the power!

Hashtags 101

If you’ve checked out the other articles on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram you have a general feel of what hashtags do and how they operate. We want to condense this information into one blog so you can read and reread this as many times as you’d like. We’ve been told it is an enchanting bedtime story.

Hashtag Blog

Hashtags are a search engines’ best friends. They link documents/posts/text/photos together. When you type “#morewine” this categorizes that post/comment with every other post/comment with that same hashtag. When people are browsing the internet and searching for that hashtag- there you are! We encourage you to create your own hashtag. Maybe something like, “#yournamewine” or “wdyourname”. This makes it easier for you to find what customers/followers want you to see. Don’t forget to use general or broad hashtags too. You need to get discovered somehow! Timing is important. If you have an old post and edit it to have hashtags, you will not be doing yourself any favors. If you want to add hashtags do so in the comments. Your post/photo will no longer be relevant with the edited caption.

Different platforms call for different hashtags…here we go:

Twitter: Sprinkle your hashtags on Twitter! You do not need to use many because Twitter uses all of your words in its search engines. Want to tweet about wine but don’t have enough characters to hashtag all that you want? Don’t sweat it. Your “unhashtaged” words will be picked up anyway. Limit your hashtags to 1-2 per post.

Facebook: The moderate hashtag platform. Using hashtags on Facebook is more effective than Twitter but don’t go crazy. Having an overload of hashtags looks messy and doesn’t mean that your post will be ranked best fit for the certain hashtag. Ranked? Just like Google Searches, the pages that come up after you click enter are ranked in relevancy. In short, be creative but keep it genuine! 1-4 hashtags is a healthy range for Facebook.

Instagram: Hashtag Heaven! This platform works amazingly for hashtags. The best number floating out there for each post is 11. Experiment and test out some new ones every post. You never know what someone will be searching for.

Do not overload on hashtags- your rank will drop in searches!

GIF it a Try

Have you seen those moving picture on Facebook lately? I just can’t help but to watch those when scrolling through my feed. Those GIFs really capture that instant communication and gratification for social media. There are two main ways you can sprinkle GIFs on your Facebook. To set your status or to just to post one you need to copy and paste a link. Check out the screenshots below.

What’s a BITI?

BITI stands for Buy It to Try It. Did you know that as a Wine Decadence Consultant you get amazing monthly deals on BITIs? It is the perfect opportunity for consultants to purchase selected food and/or wine items at a great discount.

BITIs are available every month and are discussed during Consultant calls, usually the third Monday of the month. The purpose of BITIs is for you to get familiar with your products and to better sell them- sell products that you believe in.  Also because they are offered at a discounted price, what better time is there to experiment? One of our favorite ventures was the Chocoholic Brownies with the substitute of Discoveries Cab for water. Really fulfills all your cravings! Take advantage of these specials. Only one per consultant can be purchased.

It’s a Marathon not a Sprint

Consistency is key. Social media is a marathon NOT a sprint.

You need to develop the relationship between you and your audience. In order to do that, you need to be there. All good- no GREAT,  relationships rely on communication. Just as referenced in the algorithm article, commenting and responding to other people’s posts is essential. Put yourself out there, have some fun! Make this a daily chore. You will not have a successful run on social media if you post everything in one day and comment like crazy on other’s posts. Take it slowly and grow.

Develop a Strategy

Create a calendar and scheduling system for yourself. It’s a great idea to block out two times during the day to check your social media- early morning and evening. Ever confused or have nothing to post? Post about your experience, tell a story, or even make it a commenting day! It is a waste of time to stay in your corner on social media- it would be called antisocial media, right? There are varying statistics available about when you will see results from social media. A reoccurring number is… 6 months! You cannot fit all of 6 months work in a day. Write out your schedule and experiment with your hashtags! Remember, we are your biggest fans!

How Does One Twitter?

Twitter is awesome for getting your company name out there- quickly. Unlike Instagram and Facebook, looking pretty isn’t that important. Humor and intellect are key. Twitter encourages interaction between accounts while sharing your thoughts/opinions. A great way to get started is to follow accounts that you like or that are in your industry.

What to Tweet…

Tweet photos from your parties, tweet your website, tweet your favorite products, Tweet like no one is watching! This platform is IDEAL for real time marketing. It’s also a great search engine. Hashtags on Twitter are important but too will not help you. Use no more than two hashtags. Make sure they are relevant and you are good to GO! Always experiment with your hashtags- you can expand your audience quickly if you take on that challenge.

Your Business on Instagram

It’s a visual world, isn’t it? Imagine a world where people didn’t care about how things looked…back to reality yet? Looks are important and we want you to look GOOD!

Instagram is a visually dominant platform. Many Facebook users are adding Instagram to their social media regime – even some are dropping Facebook all together. Millennials are ruling the website…it’s time to grab their attention!

Before You Begin

When setting up an Instagram account, you have two options. You can set it up as a personal account or a business account. There are pros and cons to both. When you set up a business account you have analytic tools at your disposal. You can check how your posts are doing- reach, impressions, likes, saves and comments. You can even see the best posting times for your audience. Unfortunately, Instagram (just like Facebook) wants to best serve its audience and that means people don’t want to be sold to all the time. Your business page will not be as “favored.” This means algorithms won’t be as beneficial…if people are searching for wine and you’re not the top wine company, personal pages will show up before you.

Still Doesn’t Make Sense

If the algorithm talk still doesn’t makes sense to you, don’t worry. We will be featuring future blogs that explain this in more depth. In short, business pages don’t show up as well as personal pages when people are searching. The benefit of a business account is the analytics (free) the con is sacrifices potential customers. Most businesses are willing to take that hit- but since this is your business that depends on who you are…a personal page is likely to be better for you because you want it to be about YOU! Now what?

You need to have this app downloaded on your phone. If you don’t want to pay for special programs that often require contracts for payment… keep it on your phone for FREE! You cannot post on your computer for Instagram (for free). Hootsuite offers a free level of posting but it still requires you to have the app on your phone. If there is a particular time you want to post, it will send you a text with the image and caption that you scheduled.

But How Should I Post?

Great photos, of course! Post photos that you think others want to look at! Quotes and jokes are also great ways to draw an audience. Show that you are fun and having fun. Do not overwhelm your images with text! This defeats the purpose of Instagram. Remember, post photos that YOU like.

Don’t miss opportunities with captions. Just using hashtags will get you temporary followers. Instagram is a strange place because of this. There are some Instagram users that will follow you and wait for you to follow them back. Then they will unfollow you. These leads are meaningless. If you wake up on day with 30 followers then fall to 10 by the end of the day- don’t fret. Those 20 were just wasting your time…wasting their own time really.

Use those hashtags! Just like in Facebook article, hashtags are great tools for you to expand your audience. Click here if you need a refresher.

On Instagram hashtags are golden. You will want to use multiple relevant hashtags. Hashtags featuring what is seen in the photo and what you write in your caption. A common successful number is 11 hashtags.

The little BIG things

  1. Include your website in your bio!
  2. Don’t always be selling… that’s right. We said it. You don’t always need to be promoting wines. In fact, if you do you will get some people annoyed.
  3. Do NOT over post. They are tons of articles out there that say you should post at lest 5x a day. This is for accounts that has tens of thousands of followers. Once again this is an algorithm situation. Your posts will show up multiple times to the same people so do NOT overwhelm them.
  4. Try new things! Social media is changing on the daily. Take a little risk. Change up your hashtags. Post a headshot. You do you.
  5. Be consistent. Do Not abandon your social media account. An account that is not updated is worse than no account at all. At the very least, post 1x a week.
  6. Make it about you! Use your amazing personality. Find your niche in the social media world.

Your Business on Facebook

The social media world is growing and as a direct sales consultant, you are the perfect fit! Help your social media so it can help you.

Facebook is the “oldest” social media platform. It’s perfect for all around communication both visually and conversationally. The key being conversation. Facebook is an excellent source for on-going discussions and updates of your business and even your customers. You can create an internal community that encourages interaction between your customers- you can become their primary wine source. The general audience for Facebook is no longer reaching the younger crowd (the youngins are prefer that Snapchat app), this is an advantage for those in the 21+ industry. You don’t need to waste your time advertising to the wrong group, right?

Once you have your page set up, it’s time to get advertising! Invite your friends and family to like your page. If you are nervous about bombarding them with adverts- have no fear! By creating a business page you give them the opportunity to go like or unlike your page without cutting off all communication with that “unfriending” nonsense. They can even limit the number of posts that they would prefer to see. The goal is never to overwhelm your audience, BUT this is a friendly reminder that it’s okay to post more than once in a day!

So you have your core followers, now what? Make that page beautiful! No one wants to stare at something unattractive- we drink wine, let’s be honest. By posting clean (not too busy), fun photos you are building your brand- essentially your brand image.  Including a photo of yourself is highly recommended. You are not a spammer but a human that has a legitament business selling delicious wine. It’s also a good idea to show off. You get to sell wine for your job. You are beautiful and thriving at life! You want others to join you so make it look like it is worth joining!

Now it’s time to encourage your friends and family to share your page. Let’s expand that networking pool! Don’t mush up your “call to action”. If you want more likes, ask for more likes. A simple post such as the one below is great.

“I am so excited to show you my Wine Decadence life! Please share my page so others can see how awesome this opportunity is. Wine tastes best with friends, don’t you think?”

What to post…what to post…

It’s no surprise that you should post specials and promos, but you also need to show off your personality. Got a wine joke? Share it. See a funny video? I want to watch it! Want to share something that has nothing to do with wine but you think others will enjoy? Go for it!

What’s the deal with hashtags?

Hashtags function as search machines! Unlike other social media platforms, Facebook hashtags aren’t used well. Instagram is the prime hashtag platform, but that will be discussed in a later blog. Using 2-3 hashtags on Facebook is ideal! If you can’t think of more than 1, don’t fret. These hashtags can help you but if you start using multiple irrelevant hashtags your post will not perform well with the algorithms AND your post will be muddy and look like spam to your followers. Lightly sprinkle the hashtags on Facebook!
